Evidence-Based Treatment & Patient-Centered Care

Addictions We Treat

Home/ Treatment

Deland Treatment Solutions is equipped with a variety of drug rehabs that will help the addict achieve sobriety. Addiction treatment in Deland comes with a variety of amenities. Each drug rehab program we offer is unique in its own way and has different components to help motivate and guide individuals back into society, addiction-free.

Our drug and alcohol rehab in Deland begins with a medical detoxification process where medically trained staff provide medications and care in order to ease withdrawal symptoms. During this time, the client’s physical health continues to be monitored by our clinical team 24/7 via observations and lab tests.

Types of Addiction We Treat at Deland Treatment Solutions

At our addiction rehab facility in Deland, Florida, we provide our clients with the hope of a better tomorrow. We understand the complexities of addiction and its effects on those who suffer from it. Our team of compassionate addiction treatment specialists is here to help those who struggle with addiction to alcohol, prescription drugs, heroin, cocaine, and other substances.

Alcohol Addiction

Alcohol addiction can present itself in many different ways. Alcoholism is extremely dangerous because of the substance’s widespread availability and social acceptability. Alcohol withdrawal symptoms can be severe, which makes it so difficult for people struggling with addiction to stop drinking on their own accord. Treatment often requires medical supervision due to this fact to keep patients safe while they go through detoxification.

Alcohol addiction can affect people in a number of ways:

  • Memory impairment
  • Increased tolerance
  • Problems with family relationships
  • Drinking more or longer than intended
  • Continuing to drink despite serious emotional, health, or social problems that are related to drug use
  • A strong craving for alcohol that persists even when alcohol isn’t being used
  • Withdrawal symptoms associated when not drinking alcohol

Alcohol’s long-term abuse can lead to liver disease, heart failure, and brain atrophy. There are many negative effects of alcohol on the body including an increase in the risk of cancer development, depression, anxiety, poor cognition skills, and more.

Prescription Drug Addiction

Prescription drug addiction can come in many forms. For example, drug addiction to painkillers may have stemmed from a legitimate medical prescription. However, drug addiction to Ritalin or Adderall is usually the result of recreational drug abuse. Our addiction treatment in Deland can provide grace against the powerful attachment of prescription drug addiction.

Prescription drug abuse can be harder to recognize than substance abuse that involves only illegal drugs because these drugs are often prescribed by a doctor and assumed to be safe in small doses. Drugs such as Vicodin (an opioid) and stimulants like Ritalin and Adderall (amphetamines), however, produce euphoric effects similar to other opioids and stimulants such as heroin and cocaine.

The symptoms of prescription drug abuse can present as:

  • Dizziness
  • Doctor shopping (going to different doctors for prescriptions)
  • Borrowing prescriptions
  • Drowsiness
  • Memory impairment
  • Depression
  • Confusion
  • Weight loss
  • Impulsivity
  • Loss of appetite
  • Insomnia

Opioid Addiction

Opioids slow down brain function by blocking nerve impulses (or pain sensations) that are sent to your brain. Opioids are a class of drugs that include the illegal drug heroin, synthetic opioids such as fentanyl, and pain relievers available legally by prescription, such as:

  • Oxycodone (OxyContin®)
  • Hydrocodone (Vicodin®)
  • Codeine
  • Morphine

Individuals who suffer from opioid addictions can find hope and healing here at Deland Treatment Solutions.

Stimulant Addiction

Stimulants work in the central nervous system to speed up heart rate and breathing. Stimulant drug abuse can result in numerous health effects including increases in heart rate and blood pressure which can lead to a heart attack or stroke. There are both legal pharmaceuticals used on a limited basis.

Signs of stimulant addiction include the following:

  • Hallucinations
  • Paraphernalia for drug use (i.e. water pipes, bongs, and syringes)
  • Increased irritability
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Anxiety/depression
  • Loss of appetite
  • Twitches
  • Seizure

Ecstasy Addiction

Ecstasy causes the release of neurotransmitters in the brain which are chemicals that control moods. This drug often makes users feel energized for prolonged periods of time while sending pleasurable sensations throughout their bodies.

Methamphetamines Addiction

Methamphetamines are harsh stimulant drugs that cause the body to release high amounts of energy. Methamphetamines are a very addictive drug that affects brain functioning, which can lead to drug-seeking behaviors. Crystal methamphetamine is a type of methamphetamine that is considered very powerful and dangerous.

Despite the harsh effects of methamphetamines, our substance abuse treatment in Deland, FL can provide resources against this devastating grip.

Cocaine Addiction

Cocaine is a drug that can make you feel alert, energetic, and happy. People who use cocaine usually feel like they have more energy and can stay awake for longer periods of time. This drug is commonly snorted but may also be injected into the bloodstream or smoked.

Cocaine is found in powder or crystal forms, although it can also be found in liquid form if mixed with water. It is incredibly addictive and can lead to various health issues such as heart disease, mental illness, and stroke.

Crack cocaine appears as off-white rocks which are heated to make a smokeable form of the drug which produces an extremely intense high for short periods of time (5-15 minutes).

Treatment typically includes medications such as drug replacement programs (i.e. methadone), drug therapy, and counseling to help with recovery. Crack cocaine can drain the lifeforce out of you. So if you are suffering from cocaine addiction and you’re in need of drug rehab in the Deland area, let Deland Treatment Solutions help you today.

Marijuana Addiction

Marijuana addiction is a drug that is often used for recreational drug use. The drug can be smoked in the form of hand-rolled cigarettes or through water pipes and bongs, although it is becoming more popular to eat marijuana as well.

Marijuana causes the brain to release dopamine in between synapses in the brain. It  can cause people to have difficulties with learning and memory. Fortunately, professional addiction treatment can point you in the right direction for marijuana addiction.

Signs of marijuana addiction include:

  • Mood swings
  • Lack of motivation
  • Constant drug cravings
  • Compulsive drug craving
  • Drug tolerance over time
  • Decreased performance in school or work activities

What’s the Difference Between Addiction and Dependence?

The difference between addiction and dependence is the presence of drug-seeking behaviors. If drug abuse is present, then it’s called addiction. There is no cure for addiction. An individual who exhibits substance-seeking behaviors will look for ways to obtain substances either through their own means or by getting them from others—regardless of whether that drug has been prescribed to them or not.

Drug addiction can be treated and drug-seeking behaviors might diminish completely if the drug abuser enters drug rehab. Of course, there is no guarantee that drug abuse will stop completely. Drug-seeking behavior might only diminish but not always go away entirely. The individual will always want to get their drug of choice but they may not resort to criminal activities (stealing or hurting others) to obtain it.

A drug addict can also recover from drug addiction. There are different substance abuse treatment options available in Deland such as inpatient and outpatient drug rehabs if needed—even though some people may prefer going to a drug detox center first before going into an inpatient facility. An individual will have a better chance of succeeding with recovery if they commit to the continuum of care.

What are Withdrawal Symptoms?

Withdrawal symptoms are the body’s way of reacting to sudden abstinence from substance use. This is because when drug addicts stop taking drugs, their bodies’ chemistry will be altered and they will begin to experience drug withdrawal symptoms. Our drug rehab in Deland presents a fighting chance against these withdrawal symptoms.

Symptoms can range depending on the type of drug a person has been using. Some drug addicts experience physical and psychological effects while others only experience one or two types:

Physical: muscle aches, flu-like symptoms (e.g., runny nose and eyes), diarrhea, fever, chills, and/or shakes

Psychological: restlessness, irritability, paranoia, depression, or mood swings

What are the Signs and Symptoms of Addiction?

The signs and symptoms of addiction will vary depending on what drug the person is addicted to.  Allow drug and alcohol rehab in Deland to be the guiding hand towards recovery. Some drug addicts might be able to function normally at their job, school, or home even though they are suffering from drug addiction.

Drug addicts may experience drug cravings, drug withdrawal symptoms when drug use abruptly ends, and they may lose interest in hobbies and activities they once enjoyed doing before suffering from drug addiction.

Here are some signs of addiction you should know about:

– Cravings that interfere with daily life

– The need for more drugs to get high or feel “normal”

– A person who has lost control over their drug use despite negative consequences

– Engaging in criminal activity or stealing money/possessions

– Decline in personal hygiene

– Social withdrawal

WHAT OUR CLIENT SAY

Hear from a few of the many clients whom have found success and freedom from addiction by utilizing the DeLand Treatment Solutions Program for Recovery

Nicole S.

Made a believer out of me!

DeLand Treatment Solutions made a believer out of me! This was my first attempt at inpatient therapy, so as you can imagine, I was nervous, scared, and skeptical. The staff was so welcoming from the beginning of my journey all the way through the end. I enjoyed group time, specifically focus groups with my appointed therapist (Marissa). We met daily as a group, and individually with our therapist daily. If you are experiencing difficult times and are debating whether this type of treatment is for you, I highly recommend you take that leap. Although I was focused and determined and put in the work, I could not have made the improvements to my mental health without DeLand Treatment Solutions. For that, I am forever grateful.

Highly recommended...

DeLand Treatment Solutions is a great place for anyone seeking mental health treatment. The staff here are very passionate about the work they do and will go above and beyond for each client. Highly recommended to anyone wanting to take the next step. I have been to treatment several times before and always felt unseen in a large group. They only have a maximum of 10 clients at once and all rooms are semiprivate with ensuite bathrooms. There is a private chef and the food prepared is amazing. Most importantly, I was able to meet with my individual therapist daily. I do feel like the small groups helped a lot, but on going daily individual therapy I feel really helped me dig in and do the work that was so needed.

Best decisions I’ve made...

Going to DeLand Treatment Solutions was one of the best decisions I’ve made. I spent about a month in the program and feel it made a world of difference in my life. I learned so much and really came to know DeLand Treatment Solutions as a safe place. The staff is phenomenal, they really place value on the experiences I had here as a client. They all have been extremely kind and empathic, and that makes a world of difference in how clients are able to open up. The vibe is so comfortable and welcoming. With it being high end facility, It really feels like a big family just trying to heal together. I have nothing but good things to say and would recommend it to anyone trying to get their lives together or even just wanting to learn about themselves and how to be a better human.

Changed my life...

DeLand Treatment Solutions changed my life, and that is not an exaggeration. I suffered from depression and anxiety for 21 years before getting help DeLand Treatment Solutions. One day I discovered I could not take life as I knew it anymore. I had trouble sleeping, had very low energy to the point where I had trouble keeping up with my grooming, barely made it to work every day, and could not be productive. I couldn’t remember people’s names at times, and some of these people would be people whom I had worked with for over 5 years.
I would cry all the time, it was hard to keep my foot on the gas while driving, I was irritable, and life became unbearable. So, my husband encouraged me to find something that could help me other than what I was doing: seeing a therapist and psychiatrist every week. At first, when I looked at DeLand Treatment Solutions and called, I was told that I would need to do residential treatment first, and I immediately rejected the idea of me going residential because I did not think that I needed it. So, I looked elsewhere for a program where I could go during the day and go home at night, but I could not find any program that I was comfortable with, so I called DeLand Treatment Solutions back. Bryan, the admissions specialist DeLand Treatment Solutions, picked up the phone and asked, “How are you doing today?” I paused. Then, he said, “I guess that wasn’t the best question to ask.” His comment made me smile on the inside a little, and it helped me to feel at ease talking to him. He spent around 30 minutes talking to me about DeLand Treatment Solutions and what the program could potentially do for me. He then invited me and my husband to visit to see if it would be a good fit for me. When we visited, my husband and I felt it would be the right place for me. The visit was on a Friday, and I started treatment that Monday mainly because I wanted to spend that weekend with my husband before going. The rest is history.
Cody, among many other staff, really care about you getting better. I realized that from the moment I was admitted into the program, that DeLand Treatment Solutions took excellent care of me and worked with me to get the healing I needed. I also appreciated Bryan, who worked with me through admitting for checking in on me during my time at DeLand Treatment Solutions.
I stayed at DeLand Treatment Solutions for around 77 days, and it was well worth missing work for that extended period to receive the proper care I needed. They helped me file FMLA and was able to get paid from my job while receiving the help I so desperately needed. I loved the psychiatric nurse practitioner. One of my biggest problems was that all the medications I was prescribed before my time at DeLand Treatment Solutions gave me significant side effects.
By the time I went to DeLand Treatment Solutions, I had been on eleven different medications within 1 year! I was highly impressed that DeLand Treatment Solutions offered Genesight testing, which confirmed that the medications they were going to prescribe to me were compatible with my genes. My therapist Marisia was amazing. I connected with her and learned what I wanted from a therapist after DeLand Treatment Solutions. Group therapy was engaging, and educative. I loved all the group facilitators. I really loved being able to meet with my primary therapist daily, this really help me build a trust with a therapist I was never able to establish before.
The food was amazing. The bed was comfortable (Tempur-Pedic!). The facility was clean and felt more like a vacation home than a hospital. I waited to write this review because I wanted to see over time if I was still as great as how I left, and I am happy to say I am, 4 months later! If you are considering going to DeLand Treatment Solutions, I would say it would be worth your time and energy. I would suggest going in with an open mind, being engaged, doing the group activities even if you think you will not like them, and practicing what they tell you to practice. I cannot promise that you will have a life-changing experience like me, but I’m confident that you will be able to have valuable lessons before leaving DeLand Treatment Solutions.

Most caring and hardest working people I have ever met...

I absolutely adore working with DeLand Treatment Solutions. Everyone is fantastic, and Felicia P. in particular is one of the most caring and hardest working people I have ever met. The facility really cares for their clients and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anybody in need of the services this facility provides. Top notch!!

Had an excellent experience...

I had an excellent experience at DeLand Treatment Solutions. The behavioral health technicians (bht’s) were helpful whenever needed. They did an excellent job at making all clients feel safe, heard, and respected. The psychiatrist Dr. Aly was extremely helpful in making sure my new medication regimen was right for me. We had completed a GeneSight testing protocol prior to any medication changes so we knew what I was going to respond best to. I am 43 years old and feel the best I have been in over 20 years. My personal case manager was also beyond helpful in all areas including my legal and employment matters. Cody also kept me in the loop as far as my pending outside issues. My therapist Zach had kept me calm, cool and collected. He met with me daily and he really helped me build on the skills I was being taught. The food was better than I expected. The beds were extremely comfortable. They have flat screen TVs in each bedroom. They are all semiprivate rooms, and the facility makes you feel like you are at a large home on vacation and not locked in a hospital setting. They go above and beyond! Overall, my experience was exceptional! I would highly recommend this addiction and behavioral health rehabilitation facility to anybody with any type of drug addiction/behavioral health issues.

My 21 year old son was at DTS...

My 21 year old son was at DeLand Treatment Solutions earlier this year, and the staff were very tentative to my needs and concerns as a parent. The staff and Dr’s are great and returned my calls and emails in a timely manner. I would highly recommend DeLand Treatment Solutions if you have a young adult struggling with mental health issues. This was the starting point my son needed on his journey back to better mental health. He is still in therapy and doing great! Back in college, working, and much happier. Thank DeLand Treatment Solutions!

I have had a lot of trials prior to coming here, but with the help of the staff here, my personal ambition for my recovery, and gaining the tools I needed I have been able to find the next step in the right direction for my recovery. I can’t explain the gratitude I have for the team here. I recommend this place to anyone serious about their recovery I highly recommend coming here. This place offers serenity, peace, community, comfort and clarity.
